It was such an honor to be the keynote speaker at the Techy Accountant Summit, led by my amazing mentee, Oluwatoyin Olufon and her firm The Techy Accountant last December.
I enjoyed spending time with over a hundred finance pros from all over the world as they came together on a Sunday to finish off their 12-week program.
I got to talk to everyone from newbies in the field to seasoned managers (including a CFO) about ‘Climbing the Finance Ladder – From Entry Level to C-Suite’.
In my talk, I shared how our life paths and careers are shaped by so many things – where we come from, our life events, the relationships we build, and our never-ending desire to keep learning.
I used an analogy of “The Tree of Life”. The picture below sums up my example.
What really made this summit special was that it lined up with the #16DaysOfActivism and International Human Rights Day.
It was a powerful reminder that learning, growing, and empowering ourselves and others isn’t just about us. It’s about making the whole world a better place.
When you coach, you help your coachee in a number of different ways. Sometimes, all you have to do is show up and support their work.
Seeing Toyin lead this event was incredible. She’s doing such great work in the finance world, helping and inspiring the next bunch of finance leaders.
She has created a pioneering global initiative dedicated to nurturing a new wave of elite finance professionals with technology.
With a clear mission to equip finance practitioners of every tier with practical insights, collaborative wisdom, and state-of-the-art mentorship.
I see her reaching into universities to help them best ready their students for prospective employers with their practical application of accounting and finance.
As well as expanding her offerings for finance professionals’ entire career journey.
Her dedication, vision, and hard work in helping others grow fills me with pride.
